Account and Data Deletion

1. Introduction

At WalkieDog, we respect your right to control your personal data. This page describes how you can permanently delete your account and all data associated with it.

Account deletion is an irreversible process. Once completed, it will not be possible to recover your account or any information linked to it.

2. Data that Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data will be permanently removed from our servers:

a) Profile information:

Full name and username.
Email address.
Password and authentication credentials.
Profile photo.
Google account linking, if applicable.

b) Pet information:

Name, breed, date of birth, sex, and weight.
Pet photographs.
Medical history, vaccines, treatments, and veterinary visits.
Notes and any additional information recorded.

c) Walk and activity data:

Complete history of routes and journeys.
Geolocation data associated with walks.
Distances traveled, durations, and activity statistics.

d) Technical and session data:

Authentication tokens and session identifiers.
Application preferences and settings.

3. How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your account directly from the WalkieDog application by following these steps:

Step 1: Open the navigation menu

From any screen in the application, tap the menu icon (☰) located in the upper-left corner of the screen, or swipe from the left edge of the screen to the right to open the side menu.

Step 2: Go to Settings

In the side menu, locate and tap the "Settings" option (gear icon ⚙️). The application settings screen will open.

Step 3: Find the "Data and privacy" section

Scroll down on the Settings screen until you find the section titled "Data and privacy" (shield icon 🛡️).

Step 4: Tap "Delete account"

Within the "Data and privacy" section, tap the "Delete account" option, which appears highlighted in red with a trash icon.

Step 5: Confirm the deletion

A confirmation dialog will appear warning that this action is permanent and irreversible. Read the message carefully and, if you wish to proceed, tap the "Delete" button to confirm.

Step 6: Process completed

Once the deletion is confirmed, your account and all associated data will be removed from our servers. The application will automatically sign you out.

4. Deletion Timeframes

The deletion of your account and personal data is executed immediately upon confirmation.
Certain anonymized and aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained for statistical purposes in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
If legal obligations require the temporary retention of certain data, such data will be deleted once the legally established period has elapsed.

5. Important Considerations

Irreversible action: Once your account is deleted, you will not be able to recover any data associated with it, including walk history, pet information, and photographs.
Active subscriptions: If you have any active subscriptions, make sure to cancel them before deleting your account to avoid future charges.
New registration: After deletion, you may create a new account with the same email address, but you will start from scratch without access to any previous data.

6. Alternatives to Deletion

If you do not wish to permanently delete your account, you may consider the following alternatives:

Revoke permissions: You can disable location and notification permissions from your device settings.
Contact support: If you have any questions or issues with your account, you can contact us before deciding to delete it.
